PREZ DEBATE SETS TWITTER RECORD
The first presidential debate last night in Denver between President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney was the most-tweeted political event in Twitter history.
One popular moment during the debate came when Romney said that despite wanting to end a federal subsidy to PBS, he still liked Big Bird (of PBS' "Sesame Street") and debate moderator Jim Lehrer (the co-founder and executive editor of "PBS NewsHour").
Romney said: "I'm sorry, Jim, I'm gonna stop the subsidy to PBS… I like PBS. I love Big Bird. I actually like you, too."
It lit up Twitter:
"17,000 Tweets per minute for "Big Bird" and 10,000 Tweets per minute for "PBS". #debates"
