COUNTRY QUICKIES: 11/8/12
~~ Taylor Swift notched her second straight week of No. 1 overall album sales for "Red", which sold 344,000 units last week. Swift's fourth studio collection has now sold more than 1.5 million copies, making it the year's second-best selling album behind Adele's "21", which has sold more than four million units in 2012.
It's also Swift's second consecutive album to spend its first two weeks atop the sales charts; "Speak Now" followed a million-selling first week in 2010 with 320,000 in week two.
~~ The Band Perry's new single, "Better Dig Two" sold more than 82,000 copies in its first week on iTunes. That was good enough for No. 1 on the iTunes country songs chart and No. 3 overall.
The sibling trio filmed a video for the song before heading over to Europe to tour, so expect the see the clip in the next few weeks.
~~Luke Bryan is back at the top of the country singles chart. ‘Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye,' comes in at No. 1 on the Mediabase / Country Aircheck this week, while last week's chart-topper — Lee Brice‘s ‘Hard to Love' — remains at the top on the Billboard country singles chart.
~~ TV REMINDER: Carrie Underwood is in New York this week between headlining shows on her "Blown Away Tour" to perform her No. 1 hit "Blown Away" tonight/overnight on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon".
~~ Tracy Lawrence will host his 7th Annual Mission Possible Turkey Fry Tuesday, Nov. 20 at the Nashville Rescue Mission.
Lawrence's event has provided more than 35,000 meals since its inception. The event is open to the public, and donations are appreciated.
