COUNTRY QUICKIES: 1/2/13

~~ The Oak Ridge Boys sang their classic "Elvira" during a phone call to their ailing friend, former President George Herbert Walker Bush.

Former first lady Barbara Bush made the request of the Oaks, who were closely monitoring President Bush's health reports following his hospitalization in November.

Duane said in a statement, "He asked to hear 'Elvira,' so we sang that for him, and then we sang one verse of 'Amazing Grace.'"

The president's health has been improving over the last few days. He has been moved out of intensive care at Methodist Hospital in Houston, and was in good spirits when the Oaks called.

~~Emmylou Harris could be in a bit of trouble. The Los Angeles DA is contemplating charges against the singer for hit and run.

The alleged accident occurred on October 1st when Emmylou's rental car grazed another on the 405 but didn't stop to exchange information.

Emmylou's rep says it was a "minor traffic accident," adding "she unintentionally rubbed bumpers with another vehicle."

The rep says Emmylou didn't realize the cars made contact so she took off.

The rep calls it a "garden-variety accident that happens everyday on the 405," and Emmylou has turned the matter over to her insurance company.
