COUNTRY QUICKIES: 1/3/13
~~Kenny Chesney, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Emmylou Harris and Alabama Shakes are part of an all-star salute to Bruce Springsteen as the New Jersey rock hero is honored at the 2013 MusiCares Person of the Year gala in Los Angeles on February 8.
The sold-out event will be hosted by Jon Stewart and also feature performances from Jackson Browne, Ben Harper, Jim James, Natalie Maines, Tom Morello, Mumford & Sons, Patti Smith, Mavis Staples, Sting, Eddie Vedder and Neil Young.
"The Boss" is being recognized both for his artistic achievements and his philanthropic work. The gala is one of many high-profile events taking place leading up to the 55th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 10.
~~The Avett Brothers have been added to MerleFest in Wilkesboro, N.C., on April 28.
In addition, Seth and Scott Avett's father Jim Avett will perform his gospel material that same morning.
MerleFest will take place April 25-28 on the campus of Wilkes Community College.
~~Hunter Hayes is working on getting his pilot's license! He's working on mastering the friendly skies.
Hunter says, "I've got tons of hours on a flight simulator. Anytime I can go fly for a few hours, I go. It's stressful and stress-relieving at the same time. You've got five or six things you've got to pay attention to. But I'm a geek -- flying is so tailored to me."

~~Is Chuck Wicks engaged to marry?
The singer tweeted the message, "Remember Jagged Edge?? ‘let's get married...Oh snap!! Sing it if you know it!!!"
Wicks also attached a photo of a woman sporting a diamond engagement ring along with the message.
The next day Chuck tweeted another photo (on the left) with the caption, "True Story.. "real world" ;) read the shirt.. Lol. Had to share!! Here's to 2013!!"
Chuck never denied or confirmed anything...yet.
