~~Willie Nelson's 40th annual Fourth of July Picnic will feature performances by Kris Kristofferson, Ray Price, Justin Moore, Leon Russell, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Ryan Bingham, among others. The outdoor concert will be held near Billy Bob's Texas, the legendary nightclub in Fort Worth.
Willie launched the festival in 1973 in a field in Dripping Springs, Texas.
Willie Nelson will be presented—along with Carole King and Annie Lennox—with an honorary doctor of music degree by Berklee College of Music.
The presentation will be made during Berklee College's commencement ceremony on May 11.
Berklee's honorary doctorate recipients are recognized for musical achievements and influence, as well as lasting contributions to culture.
~~Carrie Underwood's latest single "Two Black Cadillacs" reached the No. 1 spot this week on the Mediabase country airplay charts, giving Carrie her 17th No. 1 single, and her 8th No. 1 as a songwriter.
Carrie's 17th No 1. comes on the heels of her performance announcement for the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, where she is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year for the eighth consecutive year and Album of the Year for Blown Away.
~~Reba McEntire is the latest entertainer to be honored with an exhibit at The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
Her exhibit, Reba: All the Women I Am, will open Aug. 9 in the museum's east gallery and will run through June 8, 2014.
~~Country singer David Allan Coe and two other people were injured in an early morning car crash in Ocala.
73-year-old Coe drove his Chevy Suburban through a red light around 1:30 Tuesday morning. A semi-truck smashed into the SUV.
Coe's SUV was sent into a nearby parking lot, while the semi-truck overturned and crashed into a light pole.
Coe and the two occupants of the semi were taken to the hospital, but police say none of their injuries seemed to be life-threatening.
Coe, 73, rose to popularity in the 1970s and 80s with hits such as "Mona Lisa Lost Her Smile," "The Ride" and "Longhaired Redneck."
